Thanks for the question, "Ho[w] Do You Book Hotels for Your Trips?"

While our experiances have been somewhat limited with 'online' efforts, we have, indeed, TRIED [& failed] to use these new, fancy, high-tech ways to make simple bookings with EXTREMELY frustrating results ~  For an example, while checking ~availability calandars~ & filling information at several hotel online 'sites', the closure of pages or the failure to 'send' was a mystery for several anxious days!  Then, upon an inadverent happenstance, after a very delayed page load, a site 'pop-up' finally reveals:

"Bookings in excess of 14 days must be handled in writing to our reservation specialist with telephone confirmations, please call 1-800-XXX-XXXX" 

[***grrrr toda max!***]

On another occassion, a simple over nite stay at an inexpensive motel adjacent to the Sydney Airport fails to render the 'confirmation codes' because of some inability to confirm our IP address!

Our trip to LasVegas, courtesy of UBISOFT competitions, included 6 nites at Caesar's Palace, yet upon check-in, we discovered the 'travel agent' only rendered 5!  Oh sure, it was only a 'glitch' cured with a international phone call from Nevada to New South Wales & another 15 minutes of anxieties but it adds proof that there are never any easy trips!

In Australia, naturally the 'travel agents' have the books of vacation packages for the popular tourist spots & we did, at GREAT expense, spend too much money for a 'deal' to see the "Indy Cars" during our 5 day stay in 'Surfer's Paradise' & lived large & had a great time but because of the high prices, it will NEVER happen again!

But the final solution was discovery [a couple of years ago] of "Vacation Rentals By Owner" {VRBO.com} 

            

We will probably NEVER, EVER go through more than an overnite at any 'hotel'/'motel'!

Hi, you know I started to watch football :))))) it is really funny to watch how 22 people are running after a ball. But I pull for Russia :) they do play good.

You know I booked hotel only once when I went to Bulgaria last summer, I booked it through travel agency and the pictures of rooms were not like in reality and the price on the spot was cheaper then we paid from home.
